BMHS Marching Band Advances to State Semi Finals

November 3, 2009
Ballard Memorial High School

The Ballard Memorial Marching Band will be competing in the Class A State Semi Finals Saturday at 12:00 Eastern Time at Louisville Eastern High School.  The Band earned their highest score of the year with a 74.14 which was good enough for 8th place finish on October 31st in the Class A West Region Quarterfinals held at Caldwell County High School.  The top 8 teams from both the East and West Regions advance to the Semi Finals with only the top 4 teams Saturday advancing to the Finals that will be held later that night at Louisville Cardinal Papa Johns Stadium.

The Quarterfinal finals were moved to the Parking Lot area of the Caldwell County High School due to the rains received earlier in the week and the previous night.  All bands competing had to make their final adjustments going to a concrete parking lot instead of the grassy fields they are accustomed to performing on.  The band held their own and qualified for the state Semi Finals for only the second time in the last 10 years.

The Band will enter the Semi Finals with the 14th best score out of the 16 teams competing and will look to once again increase their score as they have done over each of the last 3 competitions as they make their run for the Finals on Saturday night.  Congratulations to Band Director Brad Hammack and Color Guard Director Savanah Caldwell and good luck to the entire Band at the State Competition.
