The Union Grove High School Freshmen football team won their second county championship on Saturday by defeating the Ola High School freshmen by a score of 41-22. UG finished with a record of 6-1 and won their last 6 games in a row! Please congratulate the players as they proudly walk the halls of UNION GROVE!
The JV Competition Cheerleaders finished their season with a first place win at Northgate High School this past weekend. The Varsity Competition Squad will compete this Saturday for Regions at Putnam County High School for a bid to State, which will be held the following weekend. This past Saturday, the Women's Cross-Country team (Rayna Green, Madeline McCane, Malori Harmon, Kira Bohlke, Savannah Cobb, Jessica Hubler, Stephanie Balga) won their fourth consecutive Region Cross-Country Championship in the rain and mud at Luella High School. The Lady Wolverines placed 4 in the top 10 to pull away from second place Greenbrier. Rayna Green was the individual Region Champion with a time of 20:42. The Men's Cross-Country team placed 3rd. They were led by Region Champion Sony Prosper (16:54). Both teams have qualified for the State Championships to be held at Carrollton High School this Saturday. The JV Cross-Country girls also won their Region Championship and were led by Margaret Van Gorder and Priscilla Rodriguez. Please congratulate the cast and crew of "Competition Piece" for their outstanding performance this weekend at the Region One-Act Competition earning us Region Runner-up. We were the only school in the region to have 3 cast members named to the All Star Cast: Callie Still, Anissa Lotti, and Lily Bristow. We were also the only school to receive a standing ovation at the competition. Congratulations to the Varsity Football team for a hard fought 21-19 victory over Newton. That leaves the team at 8-1 with a 5-1 Region mark. We will play MLK on Saturday Nov. 7th @ 4:00 at Halford Stadium. MLK is also 8-1 (5-1). The winner of this game will host the first round of the state play-offs, the loser will travel to the Savannah area. Come out and support our Wolverines in the important game. Also, our NJROTC Orienteering Team won the Blue Ridge Southeastern Orienteering Invitational, defeating schools from North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. |
